Why do band at TC?

The Tri-Central Band is one of the fastest growing programs at Tri-Central. There are many benefits to joining band, but here are some of the best reasons:

Academic Benefits

Students in band consistently achieve higher than those not in band on average. Music education engages BOTH sides of the brain-the analytical and the creative. Participation in band also develops students' problem solving, critical thinking, and teamwork skills. One study found that 95% of valedictorians are in band, choir, or orchestra.

Diverse Program

There are lots of different performance opportunities in the Tri-Central Band Program. These include:

  • Concert Band

  • Jazz Band

  • Drumline

  • Marching Band

  • Pep Band

  • Solo/Small Ensemble Performances

Community of Friends

The Tri-Central Band Program is a great community for your student. The band has travelled and performed at numerous places such as Indiana Wesleyan University, King's Island, and Indy Fuel Hockey Games. These trips build close connections with their peers and most students have their strongest friendships in school with their peers in band.

"The ability to learn an instrument and be able to play it well is very inspiring to myself. It leads me to want to try more new things. The atmosphere of the band room is also such a fun place to be in. When everyone is learning how to play an instrument or a new piece of music at the same time, it is very enjoyable to be on the same level as others." -Natalie Sargent, class of 2028 (drum major)
